Ghost in the Shell

Ghost in the Shell (1989) es un manga de ciencia ficción creado por Masamune Shirow, también conocido por las siglas GitS. La historia ha progresado con dos mangas más (Ghost in the Shell 2: Man/Machine Interface y Ghost in the Shell 1.5: Human-Error Processor), además de dos películas animadas (Ghost in the Shell y Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence), una serie de televisión con dos temporadas (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex y Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG), un OVA (Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. Solid State Society) y tres videojuegos. Cada obra tiene una línea argumental libre.

Basicamente el argumento de la serie y las peliculas es el mismo:Ambientada en el siglo XXI, Ghost in the Shell se presenta en una primera lectura como un thriller futurista de espionaje, al narrar las misiones de Motoko Kusanagi, la Mayor a cargo de las operaciones encubiertas de la "Sección Policial de Seguridad pública 9" o simplemente "Sección 9", especializada en crímenes tecnológicos. La misma Kusanagi es un cyborg, un cerebro humano en un cuerpo artificial, lo que le permite ser capaz de realizar hazañas sobrehumanas especialmente requeridas por su labor.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone ComplexLa serie tiene lugar en Japón en el año 2029, tras el alza de este país como imperio económico debido al "milagro japonés" (reciclaje de residuos nucleares). La historia gira en torno a la organización de fuerzas especiales Sección 9, y en particular en torno a su segunda de abordo tras Daisuke Aramaki, la Mayor Motoko Kusanagi. La serie también trata intensamente problemas complejos de política, relaciones entre las altas esferas y espionaje industrial, así como de un profundo análisis mediante los paralelos futuristas que traza de nuestra sociedad actual y las formas en que podría derivar en el futuro. La primera temporada se divide en dos partes, Stand Alone, que llega hasta la presentación de "El hombre que ríe", y Complex, que recoge el resto de capítulos. De este modo la primera de las partes son capítulos individuales que a simple vista parecen no tener correlacion entre ellos pero que a mitad de la temporada toman otro matiz con la presentación de "El hombre que rie".

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG
Es la segunda temporada de Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. En esta segunda entrega se destapa mucha de la historia de fondo que solo vagamente fue nombrada en la 1ª, incluyendo información sobre las últimas guerras mundiales. Entre comienzos de siglo y 2032, hubo dos conflictos principales que cambiaron la política mundial. El primero fue la Tercera Guerra Mundial nuclear, y el otro fue la Cuarta Guerra Mundial convencional, también conocida como la Segunda Guerra de Vietnam. El aumento de estados independientes y regiones soberanas fue el resultado del caos de los 30 años pasados. El planeta permanece más dividido que nunca, y en varias partes del planeta se plantea la pregunta de quien realmente esta al mando.

En el año 2032, la frontera entre seres humanos y máquinas se ha reducido a niveles casi imperceptibles. En este contexto, un cyborg detective de la unidad antiterrorista (Batou) investigará el caso de un robot con forma de mujer, creado exclusivamente para satisfacer deseos sexuales, que ha asesinado a su propietario. Batou deberá indagar en las profundidades de la conciencia humana y en la sociedad del momento; donde la diferencia entre los robots y los humanos es extremadamente vaga.
